We’re hearing early word of a fall festival that might be headed to Sherrills Ford Elementary in October. Still confirming the details before we say more, keep an eye out here.

Sherrills Ford, Terrell, Monbo, and Long Island are all unincorporated, meaning there’s no town hall tying county services together out here. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office covers the area out of a substation right on Sherrills Ford Road. But if you’ve got a deer, snake, or other wildlife problem, that’s not a county call at all, it goes through the state’s NC Wildlife Resources Commission helpline instead. And if you ever need a hospital, you’re choosing between Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory or Lake Norman Regional across the bridge in Mooresville, whichever’s faster depends on where you’re starting and what the bridge traffic looks like.
