Community Groups & Meetings

Not everything worth knowing about is exclusively a Sherrills Ford-Terrell story. Catawba County has clubs, associations, and public meetings that touch our area even when they cover the whole county. Rather than letting that stuff fall through the cracks, we’re keeping a running list here: what the group is, roughly when they meet, and where to go for the current schedule.

Local Government

Catawba County Board of Commissioners. Regular meetings are the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m., held at the Catawba County Justice Center in Newton. Holidays sometimes shift the schedule (the first September meeting, for example, moves to Tuesday when it lands on Labor Day), so always check the official schedule before you go. Agriculture & Farming

Catawba Valley Cattlemen’s Association. A monthly meetup for local cattle farmers, with guest speakers and rotating host locations around the county. NC Cooperative Extension event page · Facebook

Catawba County 4-H. The county’s youth agriculture and life-skills program, with 14 clubs covering everything from livestock to crafts. They typically host a Fall Open House each September where you can meet club leaders and try hands-on activities. Catawba County 4-H, NC Cooperative Extension

More groups will get added here as we come across them, garden clubs, veterans’ organizations, civic clubs, and anything else that regularly meets and welcomes the public. This list is compiled from public sources, not personal attendance, so details like meeting times and locations can change. Always confirm with the organization directly before showing up.

Know a local club or public meeting that should be on this list? Send it our way and we’ll add it.
