About Lake Norman of Catawba

You may know this stretch of shoreline as Sherrills Ford, or Terrell, or just “the northwest side of the lake.” Officially, the U.S. Census Bureau has called the whole area, Sherrills Ford, Terrell, Monbo, and Long Island, “Lake Norman of Catawba” since 2010. We didn’t invent that name. We’re just the first ones building something under it.

Who We’re Talking To

Two kinds of neighbors, always, never one at the expense of the other:

• Longtime locals, families who’ve been here for generations, who value the history, the low property taxes, and the pace of life before things started growing so fast.
• New arrivals, people buying into the new development around Sherrills Ford, who just want the map decoded: where to eat, what’s opening, how this place actually works.

We don’t ask longtime locals to move over, and we don’t leave newcomers guessing.

Here’s the honest version: without real local feedback and direction, this is just another website. With everyone’s help, tips, corrections, favorite spots, what’s closed, what’s new, a piece of family history, it becomes the actual go-to guide for this area. This isn’t a site we’re building at you. It’s one we’re building with you, and it only works if you’re part of it.

What We Don’t Do (Yet)

Right now, this is a community-first, editorial project, no paid sponsorships, no business reviews or rankings, no events we’re hosting ourselves. Just local news, history, and honest information about a place that’s changing fast. That may expand down the road, but we’d rather earn trust first.

Corrections

We check facts before we publish, but mistakes happen, a wrong date, an outdated business hour, a name misspelled. If you catch one, tell us and we’ll fix it. No defensiveness, just a correction. “Checked, not fabricated” only means something if we own it when we get something wrong.
