Morning, neighbors. Coffee’s on, and today we’re wandering off toward the farmers markets scattered around the edges of the county.
Did You Know
Did you know one of the better farmers markets around happens before most of us are even out of bed? The Thursday Flea & Farmers Market at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds runs from 5am to 2pm and features a rotating lineup of independent growers, including several Hmong farmer vendors. Our Support Local: Farms & Makers page has more of that same variety: Mai’s Farm in Taylorsville grows bok choy, Hmong cucumbers, and Thai peppers, vegetables you won’t find stacked at most grocery stores out here. It’s one more reminder that local, in this area, covers a lot more ground than just Sherrills Ford and Terrell.
Know a farm or maker who belongs on that list? Send us a tip or drop a note on our Facebook page. That list only gets better with your help.
