Did You Know

Terrell takes its name from Pinckney Lawson Terrell, a circuit-riding Methodist preacher with ties to nearby Rehobeth Methodist Church. When a post office opened in 1893 at the T.F. Connor store, the community took his name, and local tradition says it was because he’d paid every debt he owed. Two years earlier, in 1891, the Terrell Country Store went up. It was once the hub of trade around here, and today it’s part of the Terrell Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. More on our History & Heritage page.
