If you own property in Sherrills Ford, Terrell, Monbo, or Long Island, one date from this week’s county meeting is worth writing down: November 2.

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners met Monday, October 5, 2026, and approved a proposed Schedule of Values, Standards and Rules for the 2027 Property Revaluation. The board also set a public hearing for November 2, 2026, to consider adopting that schedule. County staff described the schedule as required under North Carolina General Statutes. If you want to understand how the county values property, that hearing is where it gets discussed in public.

Sherrills Ford EMS Base

In the manager’s report, the county listed a contingency transfer of $7,150 to cover the purchase of the Sherrills Ford EMS Base. The recap doesn’t say more than that, so we don’t have details on what the purchase means for service or timing. We’ll pass along more if the county shares it.

Other items from the meeting

  • Fire Prevention Week: Commissioner Setzer presented a proclamation declaring October 4 through 10, 2026, as Fire Prevention Week.
  • Law enforcement bonuses: The board appropriated $301,419.20 for state-funded bonuses for 160 eligible officers. The county says no county funding is required.
  • Retiring K-9s: The board approved retiring drug interdiction K-9s Odin and Thor, with ownership transferring to their handlers, Dustin Ladd (Odin) and Daniel Ikerd (Thor).
  • Other consent items: Changes to the Western Piedmont Council of Governments charter and bylaws, and an updated list of Map Review Officers.

The meeting ran from 7:00 to 7:40 p.m., followed by a closed session with no further action anticipated.
