Morning, neighbors. Nothing new on the site front to report today, so let’s use this cup to point you toward something sweet instead.

Did You Know

Our Support Local: Farms & Makers page keeps turning up things you wouldn’t expect this far from a grocery store shelf. Faith Farms in Maiden makes real sorghum syrup, cooking down the cane the old way rather than buying it off a shelf, and September is pouring season. If you’ve ever wanted to see how syrup actually gets made instead of just spooning it out of a jar, this is the month to ask about it. Faith Farms also sells cold-pressed soaps and other herbal products, and the page around it covers close to three dozen farms, honey and jam makers, and u-pick spots scattered across the wider area, worth a look if you haven’t clicked over yet.

Quote for the Road

Syrup makers have an old saying: the cane cooks down on its own time, and rushing the fire just burns the pot. Not a bad way to think about early September either.

Know a farm or maker who belongs on that list, or catch something we got wrong? Send us a tip, this only stays useful with everyone’s help.
